The thirteenth edition of Les Arcs Film Festival will be held from December 11th to 18th 2021 at Bourg Saint Maurice – Les Arcs in Savoy, France.
Les Arcs European Film Festival aims to promote the diversity of European cinema, to take part in the distribution and circulation of European films in Europe and to encourage professional meetings.
Films need to meet the following criteria in order to participate in the selection process for the Official Competition of Les Arcs Film Festival:
The selection committee is responsible for selecting all the films screened during Les Arcs Film Festival.
The films are either preselected by the festival, or spontaneously sent by their director or producer. The deadline is set at September 3rd 2021 (for the return of the registration form to the Festival’s Film Office). The registration form must be filled in and accompanied by the requested additional materials.
For the pre-selection of films, a physical support (such as DVD, BluRay, USB key or disk), a “viewing link”, a digital format must be provided, with French or English subtitles if a language other than English or French is spoken.
The Festival guarantees that the support provided will be used for selection purposes only. The Festival will not be held responsible if the sent material is lost, stolen, damaged, destroyed or illegally copied.
The support must be sent to the following address: LES ARCS FILM FESTIVAL, 10 rue des Goncourt, 75011 PARIS, FRANCE, and the words “for cultural purposes only” must be written clearly on the envelope. The sender must cover all posting fees, customs charges, and other expenses (to be mentioned on the dispatch note). The support sent for the pre-selection can be returned to its sender if a request is made before January 14th, 2022. After that date, all material may be destroyed.
All additional documents for the selected films, registered or requested by the festival, must arrive at the Film Office before November 12th 2021, for publication in the catalogue. The following elements need to be provided: a physical device of the film with French or English subtitles / a list of subtitles in digital format / photos of the film director / film extracts (digital file) that may be broadcasted during or after the festival, with a specific authorization from the producer.
For the official screening a DCP must be provided. Only prints in a perfect state of projection will be accepted and must bear French or English subtitles if the spoken language is neither French nor English. If needed, digital files with French and English subtitles must also be sent to the Festival for digital subtitling.
To ensure the best promotion of the selected films, stills and 3-minute extracts will be asked and will be publicized on the website of our Festival and on those of its partners, for a limitless period of time. The Festival’s press agents are likely to hand over photos from the selected films to the medias, for regional, national and international communication purposes.
The film selected for the Official Competition and for the Competition of short films will be available free of charge throughout the Festival, and further reruns, screenings and rental rights included.
In exchange, the Festival will provide invitations for the film crews (further details will be provided in the personal official invitations).
Our partnership with Festivalscope will allow you to upload your selected film in our video-library hosted by the platform. The access will be restricted in time (December 7th 2020 – January 12th 2021) and number of spectators (only our professional participants have access to the video-library). The Festival team will send you an authorization letter.
Shorts films that are running in the Short films Competition will be available in free access on our on-demand platform during the film festival’s dates. The right holders will have the choice to accept or not. Their decision will do not have any impact on the participation of their film in the festival program.
The Festival will assign juries who will bestow the awards.
The names and endowments for the awards in the Official Competition will be announced in due time.
Some of the films from the Festival’s programme, the winners in particular, are likely to be scheduled in reruns during the weeks following the Festival and also during a special event organized in Paris. The dates for these screenings will be communicated at a later date and specific demands will be expressed to the rights’ owners.
All feature films selected in our Official Selection commit to show the Festival’s logo on all advertising material according to the Festival’s graphic chart.
The awarded movies must show on all advertising material the award(s) won during the Festival (Crystal Arrow, Grand Prize of the Jury, Best Actor / Actress Prize, Prize for the Best Music, for the Best Cinematography, Audience Choice, Youth Jury, Press and Cineuropa Prizes).
The Festival reserves the right to use the information provided in the registration forms in accordance with the Law No. 78-17, 6th of January 1978, on “Informatics and Freedom”.
According to this law, every participant has the right to access and modify all personal data concerning him or her. The Festival will not be held responsible in case of damaged reception or non-reception of the submitted material, no matter what means of transmission is used and the reason for the problem.
